What You Need to Know

Distance education requires a self-motivation, organization, and perseverance! Below are a few must have resources to help make your independent learning experience a success!

* Use this handy Academic Planner (PDF) to work out your educational path to complete your goals on time! It's easy to misunderstand degree or university requirements, so make sure to phone or write to your academic advisor for assistance.

* Use our Course List to pick out your courses for Fall or Yearlong.

*Didn't find a course you are looking for? Try searching the Distance Gateway which contains all distance courses across the UA system.

* Download and read the important sections of the Fall 2009 Survival Guide. This is a handy "how to" manual to get through your distance courses and answer many frequently asked questions.

*Check out the off-campus library resources available to you at no cost! Or see this resource list for those of you starting on your research papers about how to use the off campus library. Can't wait for a book to be mailed out to you? You can also check the EBL database to see if your selection is available online!

*Did you know you can call the Math Help Hotline for free math homework help? You can reach a tutor by calling 1866-UAF-MATH (823-6284) Sun., Tues., Wed., & Thurs. from 5-10pm and Mondays from 5-9pm.

*UAF's Advising Center offers this handy website, the Nookbook, as a resource to help students navigate UAF programs and opportunities. Check it out!
